Understanding the Acre and Hectare
An acre is defined in the US Customary system as 43,560 square feet (approx 4,046.86 m²). A metric hectare is a square of 100 meters by 100 meters (10,000 m²). Therefore, 1 hectare is approximately 2.471 acres.
Squaring Dimensions Properly
Always remember: 1 meter ≈ 3.28084 feet, but 1 square meter = (3.28084)² ≈ 10.7639 square feet. When calculating flooring or roofing materials, multiplying linear length factors instead of area square factors leads to severe material shortages!
